Group Overview

The Microsoft China Business Innovation Center was formed in order to identify, validate, connect & nurture the emerging China IT ecosystem.  Our goal is to firmly establish Microsoft as a technology innovator and social contributor in China’s emerging economy by piloting a team focused on embedding new and mature technologies into the products and services of Chinese businesses for the Chinese market. 

We will do this by providing market analysis and business development support for a variety of global Microsoft initiatives aimed at the emerging markets:  Intellectual Property Ventures, Hardware and Software IP Licensing; Patent Licensing; IP Technical Marketing and Implementation Support Services; Emerging Business Team; MOU Commercialization and others.

This particular position will focus on the Emerging Market as represented by early and mid stage entrepreneurs and the professional investor community, with the aim of identifying opportunities for Microsoft to invest our technology and business capabilities into new ventures that specifically address the domestic Chinese market.  This position will work in tight partnership with our IP licensing and ventures group in regards to lead generation and deal management.

Microsoft expects a return from this effort in two areas:

·         Ecosystem

o  Higher volume and quality of Chinese companies that build their software, products and solutions on our platform and that buy and encourage others to buy our products.

o  More Microsoft capable engineers and Microsoft friendly executives and investors

·         Financial

o  Short term - cash from licensing and revenue share deals

o  Long term - big liquidation events from equity deals

Roles & Responsibilities

·         Lead the effort to build relationships with venture capital, private equity and corporate investors as well as with early and middle stage entrepreneurs.  Will work with other China based Microsoft departments that also interface with these market segments.

·         Assist with creating “marketing” materials about what our technologies do and how they might be valuable in the general market or in specific applications

Required Qualifications

·         Passionate about new technology and business model innovation, specifically in the domestic China market.

·         Strong knowledge of and connections/relationships in the venture capital, private equity and corporate investor community in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

·         Experience with lead generation and business development in the emerging technology market.

·         Exceptional oral and written communication skills in Mandarin are required; solid oral and written communication skills in English are desired.

·         Must have significant public speaking, marketing and PR experience

·         Applicants should have broad knowledge of emerging technologies such as mobility, Internet, animation, security, and other related areas.

We have several Financial Controller and CFO vacancies for our portfolio companies in Internet and Semi-conductor industry in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Nanchang. Below please find the JD:

Company profile:  The company is a rapid developing technology company in China. It attracted investment from several VCs and plans to be listed overseas in the following years. The company is in rapid development stage and expect the candidate to help establish both sufficient control and accounting procedures, drive business development by operating plan, performance management and support new business development, as well as prepare for future financing requirements (e.g. 2^nd or 3^rd round VC financing, M&A or IPO).

Job Description:

The Financial Controller/CFO will work closely with company CEO in setting and meeting the strategic goals of the business and supporting growth objectives. The FC/CFO will provide overall financial management through strong controllership, regulatory, treasury, tax, management reporting, planning, business analysis and development, and corporate finance functions.

¨         Support business initiatives such as new business strategy, investment decision, products development, marketing promotion, external growth and strategic partnership;

¨         Formulate corporate finance strategy, including optimal capital structure, financing proposals, dividends policy and company valuation.

¨         Develop MIS, prepare operating plan, reviews and analyses company performance (e.g. setting KPIs for each dept.);

¨         Ensures that the company has effective financial control of operations by monitoring and overseeing the use of control systems, procedures and mechanisms;

¨         Statutory reporting and tax compliance and planning;

¨         Liaises with banks and other financial institutions (namely commercial banks and investment banks), audit, tax and VCs;

¨         Need to lead a team including accountants and cashiers.

Requirements:

¨         Bachelor Degree or above, major in Finance or Accounting, ACCA/CPA is preferred;

¨         At least 5 years accounting and finance experience in MNC/JV, familiar with tax, internal control, AR/AP, fixed assets, cash and bank, as well as financial and management reporting, planning and business development. Big 4 or internal audit, internet/telecommunication/semiconductor company, overseas IPO, corporate finance, consulting, treasury, ERP, ABC, US GAAP/IFRS reporting experience is preferred, though not required;

¨         Strong people and management skills, organizational/time management skills, negotiation and communication skills in both Mandarin and English;

¨         Attracted by high business growth per annum. Enjoys a challenge, responsibility and involvement in decision making;

¨         Familiar with financial and accounting software tools and systems with high Level computer skills especially Excel.

Salary is commensurate with experience. Candidates with CFO/IPO experience may be considered as CFO.
